Going somewhere or doing something for the very first time can be
indimidating. We'd like to help alleviate some of the tension you
may feel as you plan to be our guest for the first time. Below we've
tried to answer some of the questions you may be asking.

All
- What denomination is Meadowbrook?
-
We're a part of a movement to restore the church to its New Testament
heritage. We have chosen to be known by no name other than the
name of Christ and have no other beliefs other than the Bible.
- What
should I expect?
-
You should expect to feel at home. Our Sunday morning worship begins with
scripture reading and enthusiastic singing. Our worship team leads us in
a variety of music. Traditional hymns, contemporay songs, as well as some
of today's most popular hits all blend together to create a wonderful worship
experience. We enjoy the Lord's Supper every Sunday followed by a
time dedicated to lifting up the needs of our family and community to
God in prayer. After our time of prayer, Jerry shares with us a
relevant message from the Word of God which brings our time of worship to a
close.
- When should I arrive?
-
Our Sunday morning worship begins at 10:45 am. Since our Sunday school classes
end at 10:30, the best time to arrive for worship is between 10:30 - 10:45
am. The earlier you arrive the more time you will have to get to know some
of the people and for them to get to know you. Of course, you are
always welcome to attend one of our Sunday school classes.
- What should I wear?
-
The short answer is whatever you feel most comfortable wearing. On Sunday
mornings, we have people who wear blue jeans and shorts and we have people who
wear dress pants and dresses. There is no dress code. We don't want
clothing to come between you and worshiping God.
- Am I going to be singled
out and embarrased?
-
We want you to be relaxed and comfortable as you worship. We'll not ask
you to stand up, wear a name tag or tell us your life history. If you'd
do us the kindness of filling out a Welcome Card so we can send you a welcome
letter, that is more than enough.
- What do you have for my children?
-
During Sunday morning worship, we have a nursery for children Birth -
4-years-old. This is led by parents and grandparents who have
the experience and love to make your children comfortable and
safe. We also have Children's Church for children 5-years-old
- 5th grade. Our kids sing songs, prayer, study, play, and have
lots of fun. Directed by a second-grade school teacher and taught by
loving adults and teens, this is a great chance for children to get involved
in church.
- What is communion (Lord's Supper)?
-
Commuion or the Lord's Supper is a ceremony to celebrate the death and
resurrection of Jesus. But, it is more than that. It is a chance
for us to give thanks for the forgiveness we receive because of
Jesus. There is no better way for us to remember that we are all one
in Jesus. We participate in communion each Sunday as a constant
reminder of what Jesus has done for us. All Christians are welcome to
participate regardless of church memebership.
- Am I expected to give
money?
-
When you are invited to a friend's house, you'd be insulted if your friend ask
you to pay their electric bill. You might hurt their feelings if you
offered to pay their gas bill. The same is true of
Meadowbrook. While guests are not prohibited from giving to the
offering collected each week, you are not expected to. We feel it is
the responsiblites of the members of the family to cover the expenses of
the household.
- How do I become a Christian?
-
We are saved by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8). No one deserves to be
forgiven, but when we have faith in Jesus we can be saved. Having faith
in Jesus means you turn away from your sins with a desire never to do them
again because you see them the way God sees them. You can now be forgiven
of all your sins by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts
2:38). At this time, the Holy Spirit actually, comes to live within you
to empower you to live a life of faith and perseverance.
- How do I become a
member of Meadowbrook?
-
You must be a baptized believer in Jesus Christ. This is the only
requirement to be a member of the family of God and it is the only requirement
to be a member of Meadowbrook
- What is water baptism?
-
Baptism in its original setting literaly meant to submerge something. In
other words, in its simplist form, water baptism means to put something under
water. John the Baptist and Jesus both used baptism as a way of
demonstrating the repentance necessary to receive the forgiveness of sin.
While our sins could not have been forgiven if not for the death and
resurrection of Jesus, it is our baptism that joins us with Jesus in his
death. Baptism is not an action you do to receive salvation, it is
an action done to you to show your repentance so you may receive
forgiveness of sin. It is an essential part of God's plan for salvation.
